From 1 August 2018, the professional title of Flat Glass Mechanics changes to Flat Glass Technologists. That is the result of restructuring the occupational profile of a flat glass mechanic by Bundesverband Flachglas (German Federal Flat Glass Association) cooperating with BAGV Glas+Solar (German employers' association for the sectors of glass and solar). By changing the title, the increasingly technological aspect of the profession is emphasized.
